Eye Baths

Eye Bath Rainbow Logo

I became interested in eye baths after a friend got something in his eye. I realised I needed an eye bath for my medicine cabinet. I’m not a lover of plastic, so glass seemed like a much better idea. A few days later I found this Optabs eye bath in a second hand shop, and became interested in how old it could be and where it had come from.

As I became fascinated with the subject, my wonderful family bought me another gorgeous free-blown eye bath, and my collection was born.

That second eye bath is still one of my favourites. Another favourite is a Boby eye bath that belonged to my great-grandmother – my grandmother gave it to me to keep in my collection.

I would still know next to nothing about eye baths were it not for the wonderful reference book ‘Eye Baths’ written by George Sturrock. Many heartfelt thanks to him!

If I had to choose a favourite brand, it would be Waterstone Glassware, hands down, closely followed by Wood Bros – there is just something wonderful about the shape and style of their eye baths.

I hope you enjoy this website. If you have an eyebath that you’d like identified, or that you would like to sell, please get in touch. Otherwise, enjoy this little slice of history!
